Students in the 5th grade looked at the art of collage and the various styles of collage making. Students recalled the definition of Collage: a work of art in which various materials such as magazines scraps, newspaper, various papers, fabric, photographs, text, pictures, and other flat elements are cut or ripped and glued to a flat surface. Students then looked at several examples of accordion book designs and were inspired to create their own. Incorporating a photograph of themselves, scraps used to spell their name, and funky puns, students created their own Accordion Collage Book full with adjectives that best described their personality.
