“Drawing is taking a line for a walk”- Paul Klee. As a review of line, students in the 2nd grade learned all about Swiss artist Paul Klee & his life and abstract works. They viewed many of his famous artworks and learned that Klee was often inspired by child-like art. They learned that his family was very artistic! His father was a music teacher and his mother was an artist. In Klee’s lifetime, he created almost 9,000 paintings! Students looked at “Burdened Children” by Paul Klee (1930- Pencil, crayon and pen and ink on paper on board). They noticed how he used continuous line and were inspired to take a line for a walk using paint. They listened to some of Klee’s favorite music while doing so and enjoyed the process.
