Studying Monet

Students in the 4th and 5th grade learned about impressionist artist & French painter Claude Monet. They learned all about his studio on a boat, his desire to paint the natural scenes around him. They viewed some of his famous artworks such as  Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant) 1872 and Water lilies, 1897-1899. Observing and discussing Monet’s painting techniques and the overall concept of impressionism, students had an opportunity to create their own Monet inspired paintings.
