Second-grade artists have been studying the famous collage artist Romare Bearden. Learning about his life, his art career, and his love for collage making, students took a close look at his famous six-panel collage entitled “The Block”. Students studied the detail and the various materials used in his collage making process. Inspired by his work, they created their interpretation of “The Block” using collage materials as he did. Aligned with his love for jazz and blues, students also listened to some of his favorite music as they worked. Take a look at their work
